New Years Eve!

Base Mountain Cam, 9:30 AM, New Years Eve!

Boy this has been a cold and snowy winter so far and the skiing has been great! During the busy week between Christmas and New Years I’ve have been up at White Pass on the slopes probably five days. I’m just amazed that with the amount of people on the mountain, the lift lines are still short and the trails are not very crowded.

At other ski areas on days like today, New Years Eve, you would probably see twenty minute lift lines. But at White today I bet the lift lines at the longest will be ten minutes. That would be the Couloir Express at 11 AM, the busiest time.

I admit at High Camp lodge between the Basin and Couloir chairs at noon it’s hard to find an open table. What we do is ask to join a table that has some space and make new friends. Another option is the Yurt near the base of Chair Four. At the Yurt you can get lunch, snacks, beer and wine in a cozy environment.

The smart thing to do is get up early, leave Packwood by 8 AM, you’ll get a great parking spot and then you’ll be ready for lunch at 11 AM before the crowds hit the lodge!

See ya on the mountain!
